About Weather Boss

tried and tested
Continuing the Legacy of Weather Boss.
In 1990, a visionary developed a wood protection solution that was as safe for the earth as it was powerful in performance. What they created was Weather Boss — a groundbreaking eco-friendly wood stain that quickly set a new standard in the industry.
Decades ahead of its time, Weather Boss entered the market long before “green” became a global movement. At its core was a revolutionary formula derived from extensive research into the most natural and effective ways to preserve wood — all without harming people, animals, or the environment. This commitment to sustainability and performance quickly made Weather Boss a trusted name across continents.
Now, more than 30 years later, Weather Boss has been used in over 120 countries, standing the test of time with a proven track record that no competitor can match. From sun-drenched decks to heritage wood structures, Weather Boss has protected it all — reliably and responsibly.
Today, under passionate new ownership, the mission remains the same, but the vision is expanding. The new team is dedicated to introducing Weather Boss to a new generation of eco-conscious users — people who demand both quality and sustainability — while continuing to serve the loyal customers who’ve relied on the product since day one.
With its deep roots and forward-thinking ethos, Weather Boss isn’t just a stain — it’s a symbol of protection, innovation, and a greener future.

Mike Gimmeson
Mike Gimmeson brings over 25 years of industry expertise to his role as CEO, Operations Manager, and R&D Technician at WeatherBoss Global LLC. With extensive experience in manufacturing, sales, marketing, and distribution, Mike personally oversees restoration and staining projects, ensuring unmatched quality and durability in every WeatherBoss application.
Mike’s connection to WeatherBoss began in 2001 on a construction project in Wilson, Wyoming, where he was introduced to its groundbreaking, non-toxic, weather-resistant stain. Captivated by its natural durability and eco-friendly composition, he quickly became a dedicated advocate, integrating WeatherBoss into his high-end custom homes built across Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and Nicaragua—regions renowned for their extreme weather conditions.
A skilled general contractor and custom home builder for over two decades, Mike has tackled some of the most challenging building environments on the planet. His deep appreciation for WeatherBoss intensified during his time in Alaska, where he served as the state’s primary sales representative. Working in remote locations such as the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge and the Tsaina Lodge near Valdez, he validated WeatherBoss’s remarkable versatility and reliability under extreme dampness, freezing temperatures, and challenging transportation scenarios.
Growing up on a farm in Wyoming instilled Mike with a robust work ethic and resourceful problem-solving abilities. His commitment to sustainability and safety was driven by years of exposure to toxic products within the construction and farming industries, motivating him to seek safer, more sustainable alternatives. Inspired by the centuries-old Norwegian techniques of preserving ancient wooden stave churches with natural tree sap, Mike is passionate about continuing this legacy of eco-conscious building practices with WeatherBoss.
Mike’s expertise extends beyond traditional construction to innovative projects, such as applying WeatherBoss to a treehouse property on Nicaragua’s rugged Emerald Coast—another testament to the stain’s exceptional adaptability.
At WeatherBoss, Mike takes pride in the long-standing relationships and trust built with customers who rely on him decades after their first WeatherBoss application. Whether he’s overseeing a restoration or innovating in product development, Mike remains dedicated to delivering superior performance, environmental responsibility, and enduring quality.

Michael Chavira
As a Wyoming native, the West has always been home. A few years ago, I bought a cabin in the Shoshone National Forest and quickly learned the realities of restoring and maintaining a log structure through Wyoming’s unpredictable seasons. That’s when I discovered WeatherBoss—an all-natural stain that didn’t peel, didn’t require constant upkeep, and brought out the raw beauty of the wood beneath.
Impressed by its performance and intrigued by its origin, I reached out to Mike Gimmeson to learn more. What started as a conversation about wood stain turned into a partnership—and ultimately, the opportunity to carry WeatherBoss into its next chapter. Drawing on my experience of building and scaling businesses, I saw the potential in this heritage product and the values it represents: durability, simplicity, and respect for the materials we build with.
Today, I’m proud to serve as the steward of WeatherBoss. My mission is to honor its roots while expanding its reach—ensuring that cabins, decks, and timber homes across the country can be protected by a product born in the West, and built to last.
