Weather Boss XT

A concentrated formula with 50% more resins and oils, built for the toughest jobs. Cedar shake roofs, rough-cut timbers, cracked logs, and severely aged wood. When standard stains can't absorb deep enough, XT can.

Inspired by 1,300 Years of Natural Wood Preservation

Long before Weather Boss existed, Norwegian craftsmen were preserving wooden stave churches using natural tree sap. Some of those original pine shingle roofs and timber walls are over 1,300 years old and still standing. This is all without synthetic chemicals; just tree-derived resins applied to wood and left to bond.

That tradition is the foundation of every Weather Boss product. The same class of natural tree oils and resins that preserved medieval churches in Scandinavia is what penetrates and permanently bonds with your deck boards, your log home, your fence, and your dock.

We did not invent this approach. We inherited it, refined it, and created a way to share it with others.

Weather Boss is 35 Years in the Making

In 1990, we asked a question most stain companies weren't asking: what if wood protection didn't have to come with toxic tradeoffs?

We looked to nature for the answer and created Weather Boss, a groundbreaking eco-friendly wood stain that quickly set a new standard in the industry. Derived from natural tree oils and resins, it penetrates wood fibers and bonds permanently, all without harming the world around it.

No surface film that cracks and peels.

No petroleum-based chemicals.

No harsh fumes. Just a formula that works with the wood instead of sitting on top of it.

Decades before the Green Revolution, Weather Boss was already doing it the right way.

Now in its 35th year, our products have been used in 35 countries and all 50 states.

It’s the only wood stain approved for use in Flathead Lake, Montana, one of the cleanest freshwater lakes in the United States.

It's been trusted on lakefront cabins in Montana, custom homes in Alaska, and a treehouse on Nicaragua's Emerald Coast.

Under new ownership, the mission hasn't changed. Our team remains small, focused, and even more obsessed with getting this right. We’re committed to getting Weather Boss into the hands of a generation that refuses to settle for products that don’t last or come with warning labels they’re afraid to read.

OUR VISION

To become the most trusted name in natural, durable wood protection, helping homeowners, builders, ranchers, resorts and property stewards preserve what they build without compromising their health or the land.

Co-Owner and CEO

Mike Gimmeson

Mike’s been working with Weather Boss since he first used it on a construction project back in 2001. Over the next two decades, he built custom homes across Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Alaska, and Nicaragua. Every one of them got the Weather Boss treatment.

His connection to the product wasn't casual. In Alaska, Mike served as the state's primary sales representative, applying Weather Boss in some of the most punishing environments on the continent: the Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge, the Tsaina Lodge near Valdez, and remote sites accessible only by bush plane. Whether it was extreme moisture, freezing temperatures, or limited supply windows, Weather Boss always held up.

Today Mike oversees operations, R&D, and personally manages restoration and staining projects. He brings over 25 years of field experience to every formula decision and customer conversation. If you call Weather Boss, there's a good chance Mike picks up.

Co-Owner

Michael Chavira

When Micahel bought a cabin in the Shoshone National Forest and learned firsthand what Wyoming weather does to exposed wood, he needed a stain that wouldn't quit after one season.

He found Weather Boss, used it, and was impressed enough to reach out to Mike directly. That conversation turned into a partnership. Michael brings experience building and scaling businesses, and he saw in Weather Boss a heritage product with serious potential that needed to be properly introduced to the world.

His focus now is on carrying the product forward by honoring the last 35 years while ensuring that cabins, decks, and homes throughout the world are protected for generations to come.

Trusted by the People Who Use It

Thomas W.★★★★★

"I’ve been using Weather Boss since my first house in the 90s. I just bought a few more gallons for my new place, and it’s the exact same high quality. I love that I don't have to guess if the formula has been 'cheapened' over time."

Elena R.★★★★★

"Finally, a stain that is safe for my dogs to run on. It’s peace of mind knowing there aren't toxic fumes, and the finish is absolutely gorgeous. It makes the cedar glow."

David P.★★★★★

"Most stains I've tried eventually peel or flake off like old paint. Weather Boss actually soaks in. It’s been years since I applied it and the wood still beads water like I did it yesterday."

Linda K.★★★★★

"I used this on my garden planter boxes because it's non-toxic. Not only are the plants thriving, but the wood looks brand new despite being constantly wet. It's tough as nails."

Robert H.★★★★★

"I called the company with a question and was shocked to find out they’re still using the same original recipe from decades ago. That’s rare these days. The results speak for themselves."
